Chicago, My Kind of Town
I was born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs. Since my grandparents all lived in the city, I thought of myself as a Chicago girl. And now, after most of a lifetime living in downstate Illinois, I'm back in the city. Here are some great places to enjoy if you visit, or even if you live here.
Great Restaurants and
Cute Coffee Shops
Many of the places in At First Sight and At the Crossroads are or were actual venues in 2013-14. Unfortunately, some of them, like Toni's Patisserie and Everest, have since closed. However, here is a very short list of some places you might want to try for a meal, a drink, or just a cup of coffee.

The Berghoff (Historic restaurant featuring German favorites)
Cafecito (Latino themed restaurant)
Hopleaf (local bar with a Belgian atmosphere)
Three Dots and a Dash (speakeasy and classic tiki bar)
Remington's (classic American grill)
Bar Louie (bar food, beer, and cocktails)
Big Jones (Southern flair and New Orleans atmosphere)
Dropshot (fun coffee shop in Fieldhouse Jones)
Jenivee's (bakery with a Filipino flavor)
Bavette's
The Publican
Furama (Chinese specialties and Dim Sum)
Spiaggia
Osmium Coffee Shop (A Dark Matter Coffee Place)
The Gage (located in a former millinery workshop on Michigan Avenue)
